Florida International Leadership Conference held in Lake Placid

The 2020 Florida International Leadership Conference held in Lake Placid was a life changing opportunity. The conference focused on international affair and in self-growing seminars. I was able to be part of one of the eleven Santa Fe College students to participate in the weekend long conference.
When we first arrived to the camp, we were assigned rooms with students who were coming from more than twelve other universities from all over Florida! Sharing rooms with other students took me out of my comfort zone; also helped me to know new people and to learn from their experiences as an international ambassador for their universities.
We had many activities throughout the weekend. We started with ice breaker games and continued with conferences with different speakers. The most outstanding presentation for me was from a professor of the University of Florida who talked about the international perspective, different cultures and societies. At the end of each presentation we had an activity such as a short presentation of each group or a theater made by us. During the afternoon, we had the option to choose between two presentations such as a study abroad presentation and scholarships, or a tea talk with the students' representatives.

In the last night of the 2020 Florida International Conference, we had a goodbye dinner with a contest of elevator speech. I was able to learn from others and receive feedbacks from my own presentation. After the contest, we had a country theme party where we learn some new dance skills. Overall, the experience was amazing, and I hope to return next year.
