ABOUT ME

Adriana Rojas

My name is Adriana Rojas. I am twenty two  years old. Currently, I am attending to the University of Florida. I am a transfer student from Santa Fe College where I earned my Associate of Arts degree with a focus on Biological Sciences.  I am the first generation to pursue a college degree in the United States. I come from a big family. I have three sisters and two brothers. Back in my country, Bolivia, I studied in a German school where I earned an International Bachelor (IB) and had the opportunity to improve my German studying abroad for eight months. Since my parents and siblings speak German and Spanish, my native language, I grew up talking both fluently. I moved to the United States in Summer 2018 to learn English at the University of Florida.

Growing up in Bolivia, a third-world country, gave me the need to always look after others; therefore, my goal is to earn a Bachelor of Medicine and return to my home country to provide free medications and consultation.

Since I was a child, I volunteer for numerous institutions, but Operation Smile, a non-profit medical service that provides to children born with cleft lip or cleft palate costless surgeries, was the turning point in my life. Knowing how the children’s life change after the procedure induce me to take the decision to become a doctor.

During my time in the United States, I would like to prepare myself to become a better person. I want to grow not only in a profesional way but also as a person with all the experience that I will earn. I define myself as a hard-worker person who always seems for acceptance of others. Living in various countries gave me the ability to understand different cultures and to be a very open-minded person. I want to prepare myself to be able to help people at the best of my abilities and to be able to give back to the community. I am a positive person in any circumstance, active and healthy but also good at solving problems.
